Monday, February 22 2016 - Triad Invitational


The boys team fared very well against a talented field at Principia College on Saturday.  Against mainly 2A competition, the boys team had a number of medalists, including:

Gold Medalists:

Tyler Johnson, 3200 meter run (in a meet record time of 9:56.12)

Luke McGraw, Dylan Aldridge, Brock Brummett, Joey Monke, Freshman/Sophomore 4x800

3rd Place:

Hunter Tapscott, Nik Samson, Jonah Miller, Austin Mayer, Freshman/Sophomore 4x200

4th Place:

Tyler Johnson, 1600 meter run

Otis Sanders, 3200 meter run

Lucas Western, Hunter Tapscott, Jonah Miller, Brock Brummett, Freshman/Sophomore 4x400

Lucas Western, frosh/soph 60 meters 7.81

Tyler Johnson, indoor 3200 meters: 9:56.12

Luke McGraw, Dylan Aldridge, Brock Brummett, Joey Monke, fresh/soph 4x800 9:16.22 (indoor and out)

Otis Sanders, Fresh/Soph Indoor 3200: 11:07.66

Hunter Tapscott, Nik Samson, Jonah Miller, Austin Mayer indoor frosh/soph 4x200 1:43.81

Lucas Western, Hunter Tapscott, Jonah Miller, Brock Brummet indoor frosh/soph 4x400: 4:03.79

Marks comparable to last year:

David Shultz, long jump (19'5.5")- best indoor last year 18'0.5"

Sam Crocker and Justing Holding both tied personal bests in the pole vault with jumps of 8' and 7'6"

Mason Kaufmann set a lifetime best in the triple jump with a leap of 37'5.5", better than his previous PR of 37'1"

Austin Mayer's shotput of 39'5.5" is ahead of his Jacksonville Invite mark of last year (32'9")

Tyler Johnson ran 4:46.04 last year in the 1600 at Jacksonville.  Saturday he ran 4:37.60

The 4x200 of Lucas Western, David Shultz, Jakob Verhulst, and Mason Kaufmann ran faster (1:41.41 than last year's season best indoor time (1:42.37). The frosh/soph team of Hunter Tapscott, Nik Samson, Jonah Miller, and Austin Mayer challenged that mark as well, completing the race in 1:43.81

The 4x400 of David Shultz, Luke McGraw, Jakob Verhulst, and David Plunkett ran 3:48.96, which is better than the mark set at Jacksonville last year (3:55.78)

With their mark of 9:16.81, the frosh soph 4x800 of Luke McGraw, Dylan Aldridge, Brock Brummett, and Joey Monke not only set an all-time age division record at Plains, but they also ran better than the 4x800 at Jacksonville last year, which ran a 9:28.82.

The boys are well ahead of their marks for last year at this time, and are doing a fantastic job.
