Charleston Invite Champions!
Saturday, March 17 2012 - Charleston Invite (Boys)Congratulations to the Plains Boys team on their championship at the Charleston Invite at Eastern Illinois University! Out of the field of over 35 teams, the men scored 45 points, securing the championship over Monticello, who scored 38, on the very last event of the meet. Josh Cornett was the sole champion on the day, winning by a quarter in in the triple jump with a mark of 40'11.75". Second place finishes include George Wayda in the high jump (6'2") and the 4x400 relay team of Jake McNamara, Taylor Ray, Josh Cornett, and George Wayda.
Automatic indoor qualifiers include the 4x200 of Jake McNamara, Taylor Ray, Josh Cornett, and George Wayda with a time of 1:36.77, and the 4x800 relay of Mitch Johnson, Dan Plunkett, Luke Reynolds, and Matt Vermeersch with a time of 8:45.52.
Automatic qualifiers from Jacksonville who bettered their ranking include George Wayda and Caleb Harney in the 55 hurdles (7.97 and 8.41), and George Wayda in the high jump with a jump of 6'2".
